More or Less

I've been pretty slow with the blogging thing lately. It's just that I had to be here and there...Not that I'm complaining Universe...but all these things we are doing can be downright tiring. Sometimes it feels like somebody is after us...Actually, it's more of us being after the perfect table..the perfect shelf...the perfect pillowcase...We both just want everything that's in our minds to be..... here...Like being both in a furniture drunken haze, the Hubz and I just want to see our new...well...."us"..I guess..

No, I don't honestly think we've gone neurotic...maybe a bit compulsive in some ways...but not neuro... It's been years and years and years since we've made furniture changes...and finally..here we are..having the same idea..the same concept...and we want to see it manifest before Christmas...a gift for the both of us...for what we have together...

Simplicity..lines and space..and focal points...subtle lights...monochromatic hues and soothing sounds..this is what our new home is like...or is beginning to feel like....

I'm slowly slowly weeding away every single thing that has been outgrown...and neatly boxing those that will stay...everything in its rightful place. Less is more.

More is less.

well, i for one am happy that you and the hubz are finding it enjoyable redoing your nest. i wish i could say the same. each year, my hubz and i try to tackle one room (in terms of painting or whatever it may need done). one room is all we can sanely manage betwixt the two. this year we redid our whole den from tiling to furniture to paint...soup to nuts. nuts being the key word. i was ready to be committed by the end of the project. 30 years married and hubz and i still have our own indie taste and agreeing on ANYTHING is short of torture. always has been. a miracle we're still happily married. maybe i should look up the word 'happy?' but it's done. and we're still married. and we didn't manage to kill each other.

oh, yes, memories! but i'm glad it's working so much more serenely for you ...:)

having a common vision for a home is a blessing. working together in relative harmony to acheive that vision is also a blessing. decluttering surely must be the greatest blessing. (and i'm really not talking about just the external stuff).

rebecca:lol!...Its been exhausting and stressful at times but we manage to go through things a step at a time...Our place is quite simple and just cute enough for a family of four...We settled on a style and try to agree on one thing at a time.

30 years..wow!

I've been married 18 years..

Foam: I'm on my way to the external stuff....must..must do it..

I'm happy for you guys. Still waiting for that moment when we can nicely shop for our choice of furniture for a permanent home that belongs to us. Sigh..

What a wonderful holiday treat for yourselves to redecorate your space...with a common vision. We all grow and change and sometimes find our spaces don't reflect who we are now. Isn't it wonderful that your space will reflect who you are as a couple, and that your vision is in harmony? It sounds beautiful. And speaking of beautiful, you are gorgeous! So chic!

PS--I've been married 18 years also! And I love your description of your home as being "simple and just cute enough for a family of four". That is exactly what Mike and I have chosen for our home. We like a simple space and an intimate nest. I am beginninig to get a vision of what I want my next space to look like. It will also be simple and authentic. I am not into showy homes.
