Just Wacky Be!

Gooodbye Cabana Boooy!!!..

Kept hearing the lulling song over and over in my mind.....just anywhere I am and whatever in the world I'm doing...even in the loo....soooo adios amigo...see you when I fish back the mood!..

Ey'....remember "MOtley?".....Sweet adorable side kick Motley?..Used to watch Wacky Races when I was a kid..I loved gorgeous Penelope but somehow never pictured me being her.

My sis and I would do that you see...claim a character saying "oh, I'm Wonder Woman you're Supergirl".......Sometimes we argued big time on who would be who. I don't remember if I ever was Wonder Woman. I think that would indeed have been my sister...I'm not one for spinning anyway. The wonder lasso though, would be um'..kind ov' handy if I were to get hold a ov' it now..a' chee' chee chee chee chee ( Motley kinda' giggle!!)....

I can't seem to get through the cartoons of today...the ones my kids watch online. They call it "anime"...At times they'd try to explain the plot to me. It's all so complicated!..The characters are too heavy into "uncartoon" problems always having to seriously save their honor or take revenge or change the course of the world or go after some bloody stone or ancient sword so a hideous nemesis who could wreck havoc all over the kingdom can be slayed ( with gore of course..)...

Now according to my eldest son, this particular anime he is currently watching happens to be a historical rendition of the travails and conquers of a great ninja clan.....( So, you see mommy.....I'm really learning a lot from watching this, he confidently says).....

uuuuuuu..okay....

Ahhh....' gone are the days when cartoon was just that - cartoon- ......wacky.....funny..

Let me see..I remember Popeye the Sailor Man...Adam's Family...Sealab 20 20... Mythoooooor(!!!), Superman with Superdog.....Supergirl.....Justice League....Batman and Robin...and Batgirl.....Pebble's and Bambam...The Flintsones....Yogi Bear.....Mickey and Minnie Mouse......Donald Duck...Tweety......Sylvester.....Scooby Doo ( loooved this!!)....Speedy Gonzalez who always screamed aaaarrrrriba ariba andale andale!!!.....and..I remember some sort of Coyote who always got blown up...

There's so many many more...but I don't recall any of them bleeding, spilling guts or seething with hatred and vengeful...no tears....

I don't appreciate Sponge Bob or The Simpsons.....They don't show gore...but...their play for humor is .....off color...ungracious...I can't find an exact word..so..ungracious it is....

I wonder what could possibly happen if the world took just one day off from everything that it is heavily encumbered with and just settled down...

Just every single person from every single nation plopping down to a bucket of buttered popcorn..... and enjoying an hours rerun of the Wacky Races......or Superman....

( Josie and the Pussycats perhaps?)

Wow. It would appear that you watched the same cartoons as I did when I grew up. I wouldn't think that you'd have access to all that American material, althought I'm sure there had to be some Filipino cartoons for you on Saturday morning.

Sometimes, when I'm feeling low, I go over to YouTube to watch some of those old cartoons.

Other than "Pinky and the Brain" There aren't that many cartoons I have gotten a giggle out of over the last ten years. I agree, that sometimes their approach to humor is so "ungracious" that they become unfunny.

There weren't that much Filipino cartoons X..

In fact..I don't remember any...I grew up on Aquaman...Sesame Street...Josie and the Pussycats...The Electric Company...The Love Bug...Hawaii Five - O...Little House on the Prairie..Man from Atlantis....Chips..Dallas..Knots Landing.....Remington Steele..Combat etc..etc...

There weren't a lot of channels back then..I think only about 5...Most showing Hollywood...specially during prime time...

hmmmm....maybe I should write a post on this...

okay, one more time.
i just realized i had cookies disabled. my previous comments wouldn't take. finally when i had a hard time leaving a comment on my site i realized.
i moved to germany when i was 8 or 9. i do remember some cartoons from my early childhood. let's see...
the flintstones, the jetsons...
i remember certain sitcoms "I love Jeannie".., "the Outer Limits" (which would spook me and weird me out).
in Germany we only had 2 or 3 channels at the time. no american cartoons whatsoever that i can remember. tv came on mid afternoon. don't remember many chlldren's shows either it seems. when our tv broke when i was 13 my mother never replaced it. so, i spent a lot of time reading, playing piano, kayaking, hiking..
really much healthier i suppose.
my oldest appears to have outgrown most cartoons including anime. my youngest likes an anime cartoon called "The Avatar"...which actually i don't mind watching either.
