The Malate Church

"Malate Church"
by:

Philippine National Artist

" Ages pass, and still thou purest, and still there is room to fill..."
- Rabindarath Tagore

The Past. I was musing on it a while back. How everything seemed to be a muted sepia in my memory. Yes. When I think back....everything seems to be in crimson shades of brown with splashes of muted orange...

warm...woody....washed out greens with faint wiffs of musk...

This church still stands..glorious and resplendent...A reminder of an elegant past long buried in the annals of Philippine history...

Oh' but I don't mean to go back to history....just a peek back to the week that has been..that's all.

Because I want to thank God..for keeping me and my family safe, sound and secure. I want to thank God for their presence in my life. I want to thank God for other significant things such as your presence...it has been a blessing. I want to thank God for the friends who will be here in my home tomorrow...I want to thank God for the opportunities presented to me....but most of all thank you God for being patient..for being kind and for being near.

Have a peaceful weekend

A sepia-tinged past? Funny you should mention that, because the first part of this tune makes me think of film-noir San Francisco of the 1940s. All we need is a detective agency, a dead partner, a mysterious woman, and a missing statue, and we're all set.

You know Luxie, there was a "Calvin and Hobbes" strip many years ago that depicted Calvin's dad telling him that back when he was a kid, everything was in black and white...I think I would vote for sepia for the past as well (that is if I thought I had a choice). :)

I thank Him too...
something hard to describe has changed-
A new light filtering in...or a new way of looking at an old thing...
or perhaps- the new thing I was looking for has lost it's appeal?
Maybe a little of everything happened to me?

I think so~
Hugs friend...I long to send you a note- I should have more time on Monday- but you are never too far from my thoughts.
I just wanted to tell you that~
:)

Nice painting, and appropriate, as the Philippines are one of the most theistic nations on earth!
