Anniversawy' Glee (edited version)

"Arms around me close to midnight "

Wow..I love this picture of the both of us....I must have it printed, enlarged and framed. I won't be writing a new post just yet...I just want to see this...I love it when we spend a night out together...I love it when we're at home and we suddenly decide to head out for Starbuck's with the kids...These are my memories....

And' ye' I guess my blog is beginning to look like a Luxie shrine...adore..adore..adore me oh' me..nye he!he!he!....Don't mean to glory in me pics...( but then again the wise Foam said.."if we don't build a shrine to ourself..who elsewill?"...yeehah to that lol!!..)....just that..my life right now is very monumental...and I want to remember this in the years to come...I need to save this blog one way or another...No....I don't spill every stored concoction of emotion..but when I see pics such az' thiz'..I get transported back and remember just exactly what went on that day...along with it is the mem'ry of what we had to deal with...

And this was taken last Saturday night...We celebrated his birthday as well as our 18th year anniversary. Just saying that word "anniversary" conjures a well of emotions inside of me..words aren't even enough....All I can say is what I've learned...marriage is tough....it doesn't guarantee happiness..it doesn't guarantee this sense of joy or peace or stability... these experiences are both our individual decisions to make...every single day...

"17 years old entering his 2nd year of college - Business Administration major in Marketing and Advertising"

One of the memorable moments of the night was when we were in the car on our way to dinner...He said that I didn't lose myself or my identity through the years he's known me...."I think you have become you because you didn't try to change me"...A sensitive lovely thought....

I can say we've come a long way.....and I am thankful that someone is with me all these long way to go...Yes, it amazes me that someone is with me....

And we are both relieved that in our age our kids don't need nappy changes when some of our friends have kids barely in nursery...Our bulging challenges are different though...because we feel now more than ever in their life our boys need us....They need our presence our assurance and our guidance....They need to see us strong, decisive and principled...

"15 going on 16 this June...Entering his senior year in high school"

This scares me more than anything else...My boys are no longer at that age wherein they will just take anything I say as the best of mommy....no...These teenage years are far more difficult....and sometimes it leaves us just overwhelmed...

But we are determined to see this through..We are determined to make each day better...It's not easy..yes..yes...but we have made it through eighteen years of laughter and tears and confusion and fears and victory...so what's a lifetime more of the same eh?...

Ye'...come to think of it...

If I were to live through everything again...I'd still want to be with the same hubby..the same sonnies...and the same mad barking Bushy'.....yep!!

i don't see anything that needs to be edited, luxie. isn't it a nuisnace when posting pics does take forever though?

and if we don't build a shrine to ourselves? ..who will? besides this is your life, your blog....

i'm with you on the 'marriage is tough' part...tough, tough and worth it. and despite at times wondering if i would do things different if I had a chance? i wouldn't.

Happy Anniversary. There are marriages that don't last eighteen days, let alone eighteen years. Congratulations.

Um, I'm guessing that your son is not quite eighteen.

Hope you have 48 more years (or more) together~
And Foam is right...tough and worth it.
And wonderful when it's good and everything works according to plan.

We celebrate 18 years this July :)
I'd better be on a cruise for my 20th! ;)

Luxie dear, that's what blogs are for -- a shrine to ourselves -- our thoughts, what we're going through, etc. That's what makes them interesting.

Happy Anniversary, btw.

xo,
well, i liked both unedited and edited versions. at least your unedited versions are readable and actually fun to read. mine look like trash. folks would think i was on drugs or something if they read my unedited stuff. or they might think that i'd stopped taking my meds and am weirding out. i reckon i'll stay on my blood pressure medicine though so i can keep writing silly blogs and silly comments.
you know, when i was 38 i had a one year old and a 7 year old. what can i say...
i'm a late bloomer. now i have an almost 10 year old a 15 1/2 year old and an 83 year old mamma...
oh, and a spouse of course.
