October Magic ( being edited)

Some days can be soooo much better than the others. I love October! This month brings with it a surge of energy for me. I dunno' why exactly..but Octo has a bit of a romantic mystical rub on me...Must be the weather and how everything seems cleaner, crispier and more vibrant this time of the year.

No...of course we don't have the beauty of fall the way it is in the west but we do have a stardust feel of it as well. You see.....around this time our weather cools a bit..The "amihan" or monsoon breeze pirouettes around waking branches and leaves to shake off a bit of their brown leaves...

Where I live trees have thankfully been preserved and I am regaled with a a sense of happy when I walk around late in the afternoon. Trees are precious...oooh' sooo precious but unfortunately house developers in their haste for monetary gain mostly do not consider this in their construction plans. I live in an old neighborhood where we still have an abundance of the mighty ones.

Another thing I like about October is the clear nights...Stars are brighter this time of the year....snoooks I miss the old terrace where I could have a pretty view of the moon. Something about the moon that grounds me...almost like a mother...I also had a grand view of planes criss crossing the sky as well as of search lights beamed from outdoor bars...

Don't have a terrace anymore but I do have a wide enough front yard...Tonight I'll make everything a bit more special and place out a table there...Hubz is coming back. Finally after a week we can share a nice bottle of wine..a bit of cake and coffee under the stars...

I'm thinking of Halloween...we don't really participate in the fun fare...don't decorate our house with bats or pumpkins or anything with a freaky streak...My boys never really went for trick or treats when they were kids...It's sort of a religious thing really...joining hallow festivities was a nono in our church...Welp'....am not much into church anymore...meaning in the activity sort of way...Honestly I'm glad..well,,okay..more of relieved because there won't be anyone commenting on the fairy dolls and maybe a spidey web or two in the gate..and a fake lighted pumpkin outside...plus the younger kiddo' is attending a costume party and I intend to dress him to the nines as Count Dracula ( easiest costume!)....I just want a little bit of fun...I want the boys to see this home as fun....

This weekend I also plan to purchase Christmas lights....will start decorating for Christmas last week of October..I want the decor to be handmade as much as possible..It'll be twice the fun than just buying them off the shelf.

Me gotsa' work now....the pic below is what I made last night. It's called "Pininyahang Manok" or " Pineapple Chicken"....easy to do...just toss in crushed garlic and sliced onions and sliced ginger..dunk in the cut up chicken..place in about 3 cups of h20...when chicken is all tender put in the carrots and potatoes...after about five minutes the pineapples and bellpepper..season with salt and pepper..then half a cup of milk and a bit of cornstarch dissolved in h20..cover...wait a bit then serve...

Happy eating and have a great weekend!

usually october brings a surge of energy for me too, but not really the past few years it seems. however, i do think it is a lovely month. here, the leaves start changing, the air slowly becomes cooler. it's rather lovely. actually it's very slowly becoming cooler this year. summer doesn't wanna let go.

your food looks delicious. i won't tell you what i cooked up tonight. the oldest put together something for himself and his bro. i didn't eat. no appetite..

why does this post need editing. looks perfect to me.

October is also my favorite month, but oddly? we are having really warm weather (northeast) and the trees are taking their time changing - doesn't feel like October (more like Aug.-Sept.).
Thanks for comment on my blog. Nice to meet you!
The chicken looks yummy.

We don't get the dramatic fall show of color here in the desert like other places but it is a great time of year, isn't it? Just a bit cooler. Your recipe sounds delicious!
